New Year Resolution

Oh my gosh! 2008 is just 2 days away. Time sure flies. It was like yesterday when my friend CW was so amused that I kept asking him about what his New Year Resolutions for 2007 were. To him, these resolutions were just rubbish.

Ok, to be honest, though I did made some new resolutions at the beginning of this year, I totally forgot what they were all about. Guess either this is a sign of forgetfulness that comes with age OR I did not take these resolutions seriously enough. Therefore, for this coming year ahead, I shall keep mine simple:

1. Sleep more
2. Eat more
3. Spent less
4. Gossip less
5. Be happy & contented

Getting Close

We’re getting really close to the delivery date. Many people have been warning me that first child usually arrives earlier than the full 40 weeks of gestation. Nope, I don’t think I’m getting nervous about it as we approach 36 weeks… It’s more like I’m going to miss little baby’s wriggling in my tummy and most of all, the couple time hubby and I have been spending during the last 2 years together. Guess motherhood is all about sacrifices.

We went to Dr C’s clinic yesterday for my regular check up and were stunned that my blood pressure was quite high and I gained too much weight too fast. My blood pressure and weight had always been consistent! Dr C did warn me about potential risk of eclampsia. She kind of explained about the potential organ damage to mummy and the only way to solve the problem is to induce a delivery immediately. Since Dr C encourages natural delivery and thought that my condition was more of a “freak” result, (cos I kind of rushed to her clinic from work and was still panting when my blood pressure was taken) she suggest we return next week for a review. That means I would have to take half a day off from work next week because I may have to submit my blood samples to the lap if my condition does not improve.

The nurses also nagged at me on my weight gain - almost 2kg within the last 2 weeks due to all the Christmas lunches, dinners and all the Nasi Lemak during office lunches. The ideal weight gain should be around 500gm per week. I was asked to watch my diet, stay away from sweet stuffs and food that are high in carbohydrates. ARGH! Thought my appetite was just picking up and now I’ve got to control my meals.

Hubby went to Desaru with his entire Maths department this morning. They organized a team building plus chilling out this weekend because some staff were leaving the school. He wasn’t very keen to travel, not without me at least *Grin*, but I thought it would be a good idea that he took some time off for himself and with his friends at work before baby arrives. I always reminded him of the importance of having his own space and “ME” time no matter what. Can’t wait to hear his stories when he gets back. Let’s home he’ll have a great trip.

Pigeon hole is now a duck pond

To optimize office space, my department embarked on a minor renovation to re-configure all our cubicles. The plan was to shift some cubicles to include more workstations as well as to lower the partitions to create an “open feel”.

Finally the contractors completed their work after 2 days of banging, hacking and screwing. This mini project sure stirred up lots of emotions… some liked it while most did not. The best thing that happened was the printers and copiers near my workstation will be shifted – FINALLY! No more toner dust poisoning. YAY!!! However, darkness looms cos we're anticipating more unhappiness because these printers will be nearer to other colleagues and they were not happy about it….will there be war? Let’s see if the one who speaks the loudest will speaks the best. *evil laugh* .

On a brighter note, my colleague J and I had crazy ideas about hosting an office olympic since the partition walls are now so much lower- Hurdles or paper shot put anyone? Bet it'll sure boost staff moral and teamwork!

Welcoming Myself

Finally, after so many months of procrastinating, I FINALLY “founded” my blog. Hurray! Naming the blog was one of the hardest thing to do… Though not as difficult as naming one’s kid. What made it so difficult was I had no idea what theme I intended to blog about. Hobbies? Maybe. Food? Maybe. Kids? Maybe. Oh well, I finally decided, with hubby’s help, to name it Whiteboat’s Journal! Yes, so I can just blog about what comes to my mind. Lots of cheers to myself for taking that BIG GIANT step to create this space. *Grin*
