Our little girl is officially 16-months old. She's picking up words and other naughty tricks very quickly. Though sometimes she can drive us up the wall with her naughty tricks, she can very quickly melt our hearts just by smiling and giving us a wet kiss or a big hug. Not sure where she learnt this from....

She enjoys pointing out things and naming them. Now she can easily identify objects such as : Bag, book, ball, moon, star, dao (knife in chinese), phone. She knows her animals such as dog, cat or Mao (Cat), Yu (fish), Nu (Cow), Pig, Ma (Horse), bee. She likes ballons but couldn't really pronuced it yet though. She calls them "Bubble". She can say "Please" but has to be prompted first. Am now trying to teach her to say "Thank you". :-)

Yee Sinn is also very good at identifying people- Mama, Papa, Ah Ma (grand ma), Ah Yee (my sister, her aunt) She can't call my dad "Ah Gong" yet.....

She likes to have conversations with us adults. There was once I heard the birds chirping outside our window and asked her
"Yee Sinn, what's that sound?"
"Bird Bird" she said, while looking out.
"Where are the birds?"
"There!! Bird Bird there!" She exclaimed while pointing out the window.

When she knocks her head, she'll come running and pat her head and say "Ma ma, Pain Pain!". All it takes to keep her happy is for us to sayang her and give her gentle kiss.

She also has a habit of going around and identifying who they belong to. "Mama de" "Papa de" "Ah Ma de" (meaning this belongs to mama etc). And if she wants something, she'll point at it and say "take! take!"

Am wondering when she'll start to say "IT"S MINE!!!!" Hahhahahahah!!!

We were at Grandma Chang's place over the weekend. In her little garden stands a pomelo tree and it has just began to fruit. Every time Yee Sinn plays at the garden, she'll never fail to give a small pat on the lower hanging fruits.

Our little girl is behaving like grown-ups these days. She likes to imitate the tasks that we adults do. I guess she just wants to be like us... she loves to water the plants although I think she's more intersted in playing with the water and getting wet. It's never too early to get her to love gardening. Heh heh.

Our little helper watering the pandan leaves. Guess it's an early start to cultivate some green fingers. Oh, I've been getting her to help me water my plants at home too. She loves carrying the empty pails to the kitchen once her task is done. Will try to take some pictures of her while she's at it one of these days.

Later in the evening, we brought her to a playground at Lorong 5. The playground, called Sensory Garden, hasn't been opened to public yet. But nevertheless, we squeezed through the fencing and explored the area. It has a lovely children's playground as well as a senior citizen corner. As in all things new, the slides and tunnels were clean and colourful.

It was quite an interesting place and I'm sure we'll be going to the Sensory Garden more often once it's officially opened. Looking forward to it. It's nice staying at Toa Payoh! Lots of things to do and places to explore.

We didn't really celebrate Mother's Day as we had a simple meal with my mother-in-law yesterday. Instead, we were at Grandma Chang's place the entire afternoon. As it is never a tradition to celebrate mother's day in a big way at the Chang household, I decided to cook the family a nice meal of Japanese Ramen my sister brought back from Japan not too long ago as a form of celebration.

This is my 2nd Mother's Day with Yee Sinn. It has been a lot of hardwork and sacrifice raising Yee Sinn the past 2 years. But her unconditional love for her "Ma Ma" makes it all worthwhile. I love the way she has been calling me "Ma Ma" and how she'll grab my legs and look at me with those endearing eyes asking me to "bao bao" (carry) her when I get back from work every evening. Everyday, she won't go to bed without me telling her a bedtime story and lying in bed next to her till she doze off. For a little innocent girl like Yee Sinn, her Mother's Day presents are her littel kisses, her little pats on my head (her way of "sayang") and her holds of my hands are her little expressions of her love for her mother.

Like all other mothers' wishes for their children - I hope Yee Sinn will be happy, healthy and wise. :)

Happy Mother's Day to all.

It's Vesak weekend. Hubby and Grandma Lee were at Bt Gombak stadium yesterday evening. They were taking part in the 3-step-1-bow procession led by the Zen temple that we frequent. I brought Yee Sinn to Grandma Chang's place during my lunch hour break so that Hubby and Grandma Lee could attend the ceremony. Picked my daughter up after work, fed and bathed her before we headed to Bt Gombak for awhile. Our intention was to let her experience a little bit more about the ceremony. I bought her a little lotus lantern so that she could take part in the ceremony as well. Though we were only there briefly, I'm sure Yee Sinn came home with lots of positive vibes!

Today we celebrated Mother's Day in advance. We went down to Tampopo at Liang Court for lunch. Hubby and I have a fascination with Japanese Ramen and trust me, Tampopo serves quite decent and authentic Japanese Ramen. The best part was the way they prepare the boiled egg... Though it's boiled, the yoke remained watery. Classic! According to hubby, the above is a picture of the 3 most important women in his life.

Hubby later joined his walking khakis for their "off-cycle" night walk. So after dropping him off at his meeting point, I headed home and went to Toa Payoh Central with Grandma Lee and Yee Sinn for dinner. Grandma Lee rushed back to watch some variety game show (cos she took part in their lucky draw and was hoping she would win something) while I brought Yee Sinn to the Pasar Malam. She enjoyed watching the older kids playing the various pasar malam games. I also picked up some cheapo stuffs...can't resist the temptation not to buy stuffs.. hee hee.

Hubby went for his walk with his "jungle friends" this morning while I took Yee Sinn to Grandma Chang's place to meet with with him. It's the usual Sunday where we spent the lazy afternoon reading the papers and catching with with my folks. Yee Sinn loves to pop over to her place over the weekend... that's because she gets all the attention from all my folks. She also gets to play with the tons of toys and go for walks to see the neighbours' dogs.

It got pretty hot in the afternoon so we took her to my aunt's place for a dip in the pool that is a short distance away from Grandma Chang's. Other than that, it's a nice peaceful Sunday....At least I wasn't called back to office to test the systems again. Thank goodness!

It's Labour Day long weekend. Am now back at work testing the company's new CRM system since 2pm today.... So here I am, posting my blog in between waits. Anyway, I managed to get the corporate pass to the Bird Park last minute so off we went yesterday morning - to visit the feathery friends at the park!
Yee Sinn was so fascinated at the penguines she saw. She just stood there and watched the birds as they dived for their food. At times, she was pounding on the glass, trying to get the birds' attention.
Yee Sinn got pretty excited when the penguines swam by....while her parents and Grandma Lee enjoyed the air-con in the enclosure. It was pretty hot and there were truckloads of visitors due to the long weekend.
We managed to catch 2 different shows. Everyone was amazed with the performance by the "Birds of Prey". There were eagles and huge vultures. Part of the shows had them flying at low level swiftly past our head. Here's a picture of Yee Sinn was watching on intently with her papa and Grandma Lee.

Yee Sinn and her papa enjoying the bird shows.... Now that she's older, she can appreciate shows like these, participating in all the cheering and clapping. We were watching a basket ball matches between 2 birds.
