Today, our little girl turned TWO!!!

We're not too sure of her current weight but I believe it is around the ballpark of 13kg. Don't think she's underweight and definately she's not over weight.

As for her height, she's now 89cm. Some people were telling us that if you multiply the height of the child at age 2, that will be the maximum height the child will grow into as they become adult... so it's kind of scary that our little girl MAY grow into an audult with a height of 178cm!!

I took a day off from work today to spend some time with Yee Sinn. Together with Grandma Lee, we all went down to NTUC in the morning to pick up some grocery. We picked up some of Yee Sinn's favourite snacks such as her "Tiger Cornflakes" - Frosties and a punnet of Kiwi fruits.

We went to OCBC bank soon after to bank in her Ang Pow money that Grandma Chang gave over the weekend. The counter staff gave us a pleasant suprise by popping out a huge Birthday Bear for Yee Sinn. It was a nice gesture and we were all very pleased with their personalised service that they gave our little girl.

I initially wanted to take Yee Sinn to Royce Gym in the afternoon but she was napping away till almost 4pm. So with a last minute change of plan, we decided to head down to Orchard for dinner before popping by Isetan to let Yee Sinn browse at the Gundam toys there when hubby got back from work.

We picked out 2 slices of strawberry cakes from the bakery at Isetan basement before heading home. We had a small birthday celebration at home with just 2 candles and the 2 slices of cakes that we bought. Though these were simple pleasure, our little girl was delighted with blowing out the candles and sharing the cakes amongst us 4.

We feel very blessed to have a child like Yee Sinn. No words can describe the amount of joy she has brought us. With her around, we have learnt to be more selfless and our lives have became richer with the many lessons we learnt together. Hubby shared that he feels so blessed that he was able to celebrate Yee Sinn's 2nd birthday, something that his own father was not able to.

I'm contented... and I'm sure out little girl had a great time today.

Our little girl has started playschool for 2 weeks now. Her classes are 2 hours, 3 times a week. I'm so glad that she really enjoys her classes. According to the teacher, Yee Sinn has managed to adapt to the environment very well. Not once she cried in class. She is one of the more vocal kid in her class and often talking or asking the teachers questions.

She gets pretty excited trying to describe to me about what she does in school. Very often, she would tell me "I play toy toys... I pound egg shell...Teacher Liz teach me ABC and dancing!" Her pet phrase now is "WHAT's THAT??!!" and I think she picked it up in school when her teachers asked the kids "What's that?" A bit irritating sometimes but I think it's good that she's curious about things around her.

The picture above was taken before her classes on Monday morning. She was wearing her favourite jumper... which she didn't take off till late evening.

My friend Sofia bought Yee Sinn 2 water guns for Christmas. It has became her favourite toy when we go swimming. After knowing the mechanics of how it works, she can now easily aim and shoot quite accurately. Our favourite water game would be getting hubby to wear her float around his face that would be Yee Sinn's target. It's so lovely seeing both husband and daughter having so much fun together. ( I usually stand aside to take pictures. Hee)

Another favourite family past-time is hanging out at parks or playgrounds. I've got a huge mat and a small rubber ball in our car boot in case we feel like swinging by the parks any time. Yee Sinn loves to feed the birds and the fishes at the botanic garden. Yee Sinn is now so familiar with the place that she can lead us to where she wants to go. A favourite spot would be the open area around the famous trembusu tree. She likes to carried near the tree to spot the squirrels.

Time really flies…. Today is already the 5th day of the New Year.

The weekend has been a busy one for my family though we were not involved in any countdown or whatsoever. Instead, we spent New Year’s Eve quietly just like any other day.

On New Year’s day itself, we took a bus down to Bugis. It has been a long time since we checked out the place. Our little girl was excited about her bus ride as usual. She loves her double decker bus rides. She can now name several vehicles she sees on the road - lorry, motobike, bus, car and bicycle.

For lunch, we decided to try MOF for the first time (though not my first). We all agreed that the food, in terms of variety and quality, was much better than Sakae. Yee Sinn had her very own kiddy meal and of course she was extremely delighted with the food presentation. But I think the kid's meal was a bit too expensive for that kind of junk food they serve.

We brought Yee Sinn for a free trial at Act 3 on Sunday morning. It was basically a short workshop on music and movement. The participant’s age group was from 18 to 36 months so it was a very huge gap. Though hubby thought the program was good, we felt that our little girl is still too young for drama class. Besides, don’t think I’m willing to wake up early every weekend and fight for carpark just to bring my girl for drama class. I’m such a lazy mother.

Shortly after, we headed down to Grandma Chang’s place as usual. After lunch and her afternoon nap, we decided to bring the kids to the playground nearby where they could exhaust their energy. Yee Sinn didn't have enough at the playground so on the way home, we stopped by one along Lorong 5 to let her play to her heart's content. See how she swings herself before sliding down? She can be such a monkey at times!
