Our very own funniest home video

Took this short video on Saturday morning. Yee Sinn was dancing to the music when suddenly....

Facebook is making me lazy about blogging. It's so much easier to share pictures online with facebook

Since Yee Sinn had a hair cut last week, I decided to snip off my locks as well. I dropped by a friendly neighbourhood hair salon called K1 Salon at Toa Payoh Central and had my hair re-bonded and cut for just $100. It was quite a good deal as they were using Shishedo chemicals. And the best part- They guranteed the whole process to be done in approximately 2 hours. It was quite a BIG deal for me cos re-bonding usually takes me 5 hours with my hair thickness. (Hubby commented that now that I'm not so "big headed", I should work on keeping my body in shape.... Yah.. I kind of got the hint and am now determined to hit the pool at least once a week to shave off some fat.) Initial plan was to meet some girl pals for tea in town after my hair treatment but one of them were not feeling well. So I spent the rest of Saturday re arranging my plants.

We attending the Changs' Reunion Party on Sunday evening. My 4th uncle flew in from US for a 1 week vacation so my 6th uncle and aunt gladly hosted dinner at their home. It was a huge crowd...with most of the Changs turning up. There were about 49 adults and I've lost count of how many kids were under 12. Food was fantastic - It was kind of pot-luck with different families bringing portion of stuffs to share. Most of the meat were barbecued from the garden and we all agreed that they were delicious. It was nice catching up with cousins and their kids after so many years. Here are some pictures from the dinner to share.

The Food- Tiger Prawns! My aunt bought 49 pieces for about $200 and had them barbequed. It's much more worth it compared to Newton Hawker Centre. Hahahah.
Yee Sinn had so much fun hiding under all the pillows and playing peek-a-boo. Doesn't she looks more cheeky now with her short crop?
Ahh... here's our little girl in her attempt to do a striptease act. We're not too sure if she'll end up being an exibitionist next time. And all her papa did was to stand beside her and watched so approvingly. Tsk! Tsk!

This is one of my favourite picture - Yee Sinn with Granpa Chang checking out what's on TV.

And here's presenting the almost complete Chang Clan..... It was more fun than the annual boring meeting at my eldest aunt's place every Chinese New Year. It's much more cosier for chats and catching up with each other.

Yee Sinn turned 14-months old on Thursday. We brought her to the playground to meet her friends before heading to the hair salon. See how much she has grown....

This was how our little girl looked before her hair cut. This was also the first time she visited a hair salon for a proper hair cut. All previous haircuts were done by me... and the only style I know is the "cut straight across" style a.k.a The Helmet, The Bowl or The Coconut hair style.

Yee Sinn was pretty unsure about the hairdresser.... so she sat very very still. Snip Snip Snip.

Ta Dah!!! Introducing the"naughty girl". We kind of like it though cos it gives her a refreshing look. Not bad for $3.80. Extremely value for money.

Yee Sinn has been pulling off turf of her own hair recently. It got so bad that there was an obvious empty patch at the top of her head. We have been trying to stop her strange habit by scolding her and smacking her hand... but guess it's not going to work cos it has been almost 2 weeks and she was still at it. So yesterday, hubby and I brought her to a hair salon just next to the old NTUC at Toa Payoh Central for a hair cut. We're hoping (and still hoping it'll work) that by cutting her hair much shorter, it'll be too short for her to tug them. They are currently having a promotion - Hair cut for Adult cost $4.80 while kids cost only $3.80. Cheap right?

I wanted the hairdresser to cut Yee Sinn's hair till it's about 1 inch but she simply refused. She kept saying "Cannot!! Girl Girl cannot cut so short... not nice". 2 thumbs up for her patience and her skills. She didn't even used the shaver on our little girl. Yee Sinn sat very still throughout and we guessed she must have felt terrified.

Oh well, with her new short look, she is now a little chubbier and looks a littler naughtier. I will post some of her picture with her new look later over the weekend cos hubby is holding on to the camera.

Life is more or less back to normal. Our little girl is back to her chatty self. However, she still has to be on the neubulizer but we have cut down the frequency. Just yesterday, she only needs to breathe into the machine before her bedtime. Will be bringing her to see Dr Heng for a follow up this Wednesday. Hopefully she will give a clear bill of health.

We had a few errands to run over the weekend. On Saturday afternoon, we met Hubby’s sister and family at Bright Hill Temple to pray to the Lee ancestors for “Ching Ming”. It’s nice meeting up with them once in awhile. It rained pretty heavily when we were about to leave so the whole gang adorned to our place for a chat. Yee Sinn got pretty excited playing with her cousins. They showed her how to build things with Lego blocks. Unfortunately, she only knows how to destroy instead of create. Hahahah.

Sunday was pretty much mundane. We went to Grandma Chang’s place late morning. We left our little girl there to bond with her grandparents while we scooted off to the nearby Javanese Massage Hut for a 1.5 hour of massage therapy. When we got back, Yee Sinn’s cousin En En, just arrived for a visit. As it was warm and sunny, we decided to pop by my aunt’s place that was just a short drive away to feed the fishes at her condo’s park. I got kind of bored after awhile so I took Yee Sinn to the pool to play with the water. Before we knew it, she was wading in the baby pool. When her cousin saw her in the water, he too, jumped in to join her very quickly.

We managed to take some pictures of Yee Sinn at the pool. She wasn't in swimsuit cos we were not prepared. Think I’m going to put a set in the car in case we’ll need it in future. Hee.

*Splash splash* Yee Sinn enjoyed herself in the water so much that we had to pull her out of the pool after awhile. We're definately going to bring her back when she recovers from her flu.

Here is a picture of Yee Sinn and her cousin En En. Just look at their mischevious faces. Wondering what naughty things they'll be up to next time.

Our little girl hasn't been well the last few days. She has been down with a running nose and phlemy cough. She has been trying to cough out the phlem that was making her uncomfotable and puking whatevering we gave her. We brought her to see Dr Heng and she now needs to be on the nuebulizer. *Sigh* The difficult part is feeding her the medicine... Somehow she inherited her father's taste buds and is able to pick up "weird" tasting stuffs that are hidden either in her milk or porridge. Getting her on the nuebulizer isn't easy too. For once, we had to forgo our "No-TV Policy" to distract her by letting her watch cartoons or Sesame Street. My goodness... you should see how glued she becomes once we switch on the television!! Oh well...am just letting this go for once. Let's hope she'll get well soon and life returns back to normal.

It was our wedding anniversary last Friday. Hubby and I have been married for 4 years. When hubby asked what I wanted this year as a present, I told him all I needed was a straight 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Hahahah. So to spend some time together, we checked ourselves into Siloso Beach Resort at Sentosa over the weekend. Yes, I got to sleep more than 9 hours in a stretch. Nice and peaceful.

The hotel was quite secluded. But that made it nice and quiet. Unlike Rasa Sentosa, Siloso Beach Resort has much less activities as they have less guest rooms. This was what it looked like outside our window. We were quite lucky as we were blessed with good sunny weather on both Saturday and Sunday.

The hotel pool was lovely. There was a huge waterfall with 2 slides. At the corner of the pool were some jacuzzi jets. The pool was also surrounded by small pavilions where we could just bum around. We went swimming on both days after a short dip at the nearby beaches. It's quite a nice place for family with kids too. We'll be bringing Yee Sinn the next time we decide to come here again.

This was one of my favourite place throughout our 2 days stay. As we got the room at a promotional rate of $209++ due to the Singapore Tourism Board existing promotion, our room didn't come with any complimentary newspaper. Though it would have been lovely to spend my Sunday morning lazing around here reading the papers.

We explored the island a little bit on Saturday evening. We hang around the central beach where most activites were. We found out there was a free animal show going on at the nearby so we decided to check it out. Not as impressive compared to the Singapore Zoo but it was still entertaining nevertheless. Here's hubby posing with an albino snake.

On Saturday evening, we decided to try out the Luge. We had to take the ride up a hill before we "luge" our way down. We managed to see some pretty sight of the sun setting. On the whole, the Luge ride was fun. If only our hotel stay came with unlimited rides.

We went to the Zoo! Hubby, Yee Sinn, Grandma Lee and myself. Madness you may call it, but we went there on Saturday and Sunday. Afterall, I managed to borrow the company’s corporate zoo pass and it was free entry for us on both days.

Saturday morning was kind of a mad rush for all of us as we had a list of activities lined up. Hubby has a night walk with his friends in the evening. Also, it was supposed to be Victorian Day. With all these lined up, we packed the entire family- Yee Sinn and Grandma Lee as well, to VJC early in the morning. Hubby, being an old Victoria School and VJC ex-student and now a teacher there, wanted to be part of the fun. Very patriotic right? While he was checking out the activities that were lined up for ex-students, we helped ourselves to a free breakfast of roti prata.

Looking at the excellent weather, we left the school compound shortly to the zoo. Yay! Yee Sinn sure had a lot of fun. She got pretty excited while watching the animal shows. We managed to catch 3 different shows in all.

Yee Sinn was pretty engrossed over the performace by several topless tribal men dancing with an albino peacock. She became excited and shouted "BIRD! BIRD!" when the peacock suddenly spreaded his feathers.

We joined the crew on stage at the end of the performance for this picture. We all got to touch the snake. Yee Sinn was curious about the snake and was wondering what that strange looking creature was.

This was one of Yee Sinn's favourite exhibits. There were a few pigmy hippos within a giantic aquarium but she was more interested in the fishes instead.

"Yu! Yu! Yu!" Yee Sinn pointed excitedly to the huge fishes that were nibbling on the pigmy hippos. The hippos were enjoying their fish spa. Hee hee.

We took this picture at the infamous white tigers' enclosure. She pointed to the tiger that was roaming around and called out "Cat! Cat!". She was not wrong....tigers are cat after all. Hahahah.

Yee Sinn enjoyed herself exploring the zoo's interactive panels. There were flaps and buttons for the kids to learn more about the animals in the enclosures.

On Sunday, we decided to check out the other half of the zoo exhibits that we missed yesterday. That included the polar bear which got her pretty excited. She was upset that we wanted to move on and refused to leave the compound. We had to coax her by getting her to say “bye bye” to the “bear bear” cos he wanted to “orh orh” (sleep).

Here's the both of us watching the sea lions and sea cows at the animal shows on the 2nd day. Check out her new hair cut that I gave her just before her morning shower. Hee. It's my version of The Cleopatra Hair Style.

We also ventured into the zoo’s latest attraction which was the Rainforest Kidzworld. She checked out the ponies and the dogs. Unfortunately, she didn't show as much interest compared to seeing birds or fishes.

Yee Sinn took us by surprise when she gamely ventured to the water features. We thought she would be afraid. Instead, she enjoyed herself so much we had to carry her away when we had to go. It was a lovely way to end our visit at the zoo - a dip in the water features to cool ourselves down.

It was a tiring weekend but nevertheless, a fun one. I told hubby that it doesn't matter where we go or what we do over the weekends. As long as the family is happy, I would be happy too. He couldn't agree more to that.

2 weeks ago, I opened a box of Crayola crayons that my good friend CW lugged back from US. They are not too small for her tiny hands and they are washable!! Fantastic! Both hubby and I were quite amazed on how focus she was at her tasks. She's able to sit quietly on her chair by the coffee table and draw for a full 5 mins everytime - that's considered long for a kid her age. Yup! We're sure proud of all these little milestones she has achieved so far.

I took this picture of her yesterday evening. It was raining heavily and she didn't get to go out to the playground. Instead, I spent some quiet time with her drawing. See that look on her face? It is priceless!

We had a fun weekend as a family. On Saturday morning, we headed down to ICA to pick up Grandma Lee's new passport. She'll be going for her annual holiday and this time will be to Korea. The service standard at ICA is now so amazing. Once we made an e-appointment, we were in and out of the place with the new passport within 15 minutes.

We headed downtown for lunch. We went to Takashimaya as they were having some sort of sale going on. Yee Sinn was delighted being at the Toy Department with Grandma Lee, testing out all the toys that she could reach. Meanwhile, hubby and I headed to Best Denki just 2 floors up to check out on the various LCD TV models. We were there doing "market research" while anticipating the IT fair in 2 weeks' time.

Nothing really happened on Sunday. We headed to Grandma Chang's place as usual. But before that, we popped by a nearby park so that our little girl could see some piegons close up. There were plenty of birds in sight which got her pretty excited. Unfortunately, she came back with 4 huge mozzie bites. I checked on her bites again yesterday when I got back from work. To my horror, the itched has caused her to scratch till her skin bled a little. We're monitoring her skin condition and hopefully she'll recover soon.
